Looking for some unusual ideas for your child’s birthday party. Here’s a few to get you thinking, once the ideas start to come you might come up with some surprising or interesting ideas yourself:- Beach or Luau party– no, this doesn’t mean that you actually have to take them all to the beach! You can create your own “beach” in your home with Hawaiian skirts, surf dudes, tropical t-shirts, and plenty of sun and beach themed drinks and food. Craft ideas – kids love to make things and this is one easy way to keep them busy! Suitable for older children, this is a great way of spending time with friends. Forget about party gift bags to take home, they simply take home what they’ve made. Dinosaur – either have children dressing up as dinosaurs or as explorers trying to find them. This could be a great outdoors party with plenty of wild animals and games to keep them busy. Disney Movie – kids often want to copy the hero of the latest Disney movie. At the time of writing “Cars” is the hottest Disney film to be released, and a party themed around that is likely to be a real hit. Princess – this is a party that young girls will love. Follow it up with a slumber party for her friends and you’ll be her friend for ever! More suitable for younger children, the girls will have a wonderful time choosing their costume and dressing up as a fairy tale princess. Sports party – ideal for young and energetic children aged 6 and above. Playing football or basketball will keep them occupied having fun whilst you get the cakes and food ready. TV or film character inspired – whether it’s Superman or Batman – ask kids to come dressed as their favourite character Whatever theme you choose, plan in plenty of time to:- - make or order a birthday cake
- create and send invitations
- organise games and prizes
- get plenty of help for the day!
And don’t forget to plan a relaxing day so that you can put your feet up and have a well-earned rest. About The Author: Find more ideas for Children’s Party Games. This article was written by Jen Carter, who runs the One Dollar book store
