Helping During This Holiday Season

Mom’s Source knows that during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season many of us take for granted the time we spend shopping, running our children here to there, celebrating with our families, our health status and the list goes on and on. But during this joyous, busy season there are others that can no longer take the simple things in life for granted.

There is a very special lady that I would like to tell you about. Her name is Darlynn and she is currently fighting cancer during this holiday season. She is 48 years old and was diagnosed with Colon Cancer on August 21, 2006. Darlynn is currently at stage 4 of her chemotherapy treatment and is currently dealing with headaches, nausea, fever and diarrhea.

Over the years, Darlynn has devoted herself to her children, grandchildren and her career as a Registered Nurse. She has 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren ranging in the ages of 6 months old to 10 years old. Darlynn is currently unable to work and her typical day consists of resting and sleeping. The financial strain on her family has been enormous due to her loss of employment, her automobile, health insurance and her mounting medical bills.

When I spoke with Darlynn’s family, they have told me that since finding out about the cancer it has made them realize how important love and support are. Her family is very hopeful and positive that she is going to fight the cancer and win.

Darlynn’s outlook on fighting her cancer is positive and she feels that she will recover 100%. She looks forward to returning to all of her normal activities in the future and her one dream is to get married to her best friend, Dell R. and live happily ever after.
