My cats love the thermal mat. I just put it down and showed it to them. Don't put them on it. You need to let cats think it is thier idea to lay on it. This replaced a blanket I bought for myself that my cat adopted and slept on every day! I was a little concerned about the size, my cat is very big, but he fits just fine.
